Wine For linux

Wine is a free piece of software that is made for Linux that can run some windows programs inside it. Although most of the popular programs you would use in windows do not work. So I would say that if you want all of your windows programs and Linux just too dual boot windows with Linux. I would just like to know if there is anybody using it.

Yes I have used it but I find that it only works with small non complex programs like winrar and not big programs like MS office and Adobe photoshop.

I use it (or try to) whenever I have to use a .exe file.
If it doesn't work I go to my Windows partition. :)

Virtualization is a pretty cool way to get your Windows programs working in Linux, and with Virtualbox you can even get XP pretty well integrated if you want, so that you can have a workspace dedicated to running Windows apps. Although it means programs won't run as fast as when you dual-boot Linux and Windows, virtualization is a quicker solution that even allows for transparency between the the two operating systems, without the need for restarting to access the other operating system.

I run Ubuntu, Gentoo, and Windows Vista, by the way.

The only thing i can not get to work is virtual in virtual box . I always end up copying the files into a folder that is shared and then back into the virtual os. Has anybody else got this problem in ubuntu.

I have had this problem before, but I can remember solving it (but not how). Are you using the latest version of Virtualbox (from Sun Microsystems)? Also, are you using the open source version, or the proprietary version?
