1. insert your windows vista disk wen it comes up with the options select format HDD.

2. go into your bios set the first boot device to cd and second hdd and 3rd floppy

2.put your win xp disk in when the disk loads on the first screen press r to go into recovery console when in there you need to selected witch partition (properly only one) then type you password if you have one (if not just press enter) then type in fixmbrthen restart and install windows xp

3. if that does not work go back to the recovery console and type in fixboot instead of fixmbr

there are other people

people downgrade as they think vista will be good as they are please with xp when they get it they realize that it is slow and lots of programs don't work with it.

another reason is that people buy a computer from e.g dell and they put vista on it but they don't want this so they want to downgrade

i agree i dont like vista as it is slow and most software / drivers do not work with it.

I would not advise that anybody upgardes until atleast the end of this year when microsoft have got it running better and sp1 realesed.

Pretty good instructions that could prove useful for those who want to switch from Vista to XP.

However, this does not consider the fact that for some laptops, you may have to load slipstream SATA and/or other drivers just to get Windows XP installed in the first place. Also, this doesn't take into account driver-find woes.

Also, users planning on doing this should back up their important data first, and be aware that this will wipe everything on your PC. In addition you will have to reinstall all programs that you would like back onto your computer.

Use a Windows XP SP2 disk and put it into your vista computer and I don't know whats next cuz I haven't tried it yet. But due to other tries on my computer I don't know if it will be the same thing for vista. I don't want to try it now because I don't want all of my data erased and I like my vista. But if there are any questions ask me.

In that case why bother posting a method of downgrading from vista to xp if you don't ever know it works. :?: :?:

To put some humor as I have stated above I just posted an alternative if that won't work out for you.
