Building Websites

Postby CoolDude on Sun Apr 06, 2008 4:56 pm

I've been getting really interested in web development in the past year. I've don't research in my spare time and am taking courses in college on web development. I don't consider myself a pro at it but I can build a completely functional and user-friendly website. So far I've only built websites using html, css, javascript, and a bit of php <--still learning. So my question for you is what do you typically use to build websites and what do you think is the easiest way to build a unique site.

Hi,

I use Macromedia Dreamweaver, it has a really easy way of developing sites, editing templates, scripting and importing a css into a page, it takes a while to get used to but after a while you will love the program.

Good luck!

I also use a program to write the code for me except I use Microsoft Expression web. But sometimes (When editing these forums) I just manually edit and add to the code.

I don't use any programs other than notepad and Paint.NET to create a site. I typically will use php. This allows me to make a couple files for a template, then I can just use require() to use a template. It also allows more functionality when I need it.

As for the easiest way to create a site, I'm not sure. I haven't been working on creating sites for very long, probably only about 6 months. I don't know the quality of many web-creation programs. I've heard some can create sloppy code. From above, it sounds like Dreamweaver and Expression work fine. I'm sure there are a few shoddy programs, though probably a lot of good ones as well.
